Grease is the big screen drive-in movie
Grease will be drawing a big crowd at
Salerie Corner next month as the star attraction of the island’s
first ever drive-in movie.
All tickets for the event, which will see the
Salerie car park transformed into an outdoor movie theatre for one
night only on 19 July, were snapped up within an hour of going
online this morning.
Those islanders that were lucky enough to get
one of the 200 free tickets will be able to enjoy the film, along
with a friend, from the comfort of their car. They will also get
two boxes of complimentary popcorn and soft drinks, courtesy of
Sure.
After the showing of Grease, the action will
move to Cobo for four days of big screen entertainment for all the
family.
More than 1500 votes were received in the poll,
which also asked islanders to choose the 12 films that will be
shown at Cobo.
Head of PR Steve Smith said they had picked the
perfect film to kick off the event.
“Sure’s Midsummer Magic is already one of the
highlights of the summer, and this year we are doing something that
little bit extra special by creating the authentic drive-in movie
experience for the first time in Guernsey, ” he said.
The soundtrack to the big movie will be
transmitted over a radio frequency that the cinemagoers can tune
into on their car stereo or on a portable radio.
The line-up for Cobo will be announced next
week.
