Midsummer Magic gets bigger and better
Late changes to the line-up for Sure’s
Midsummer Magic, which starts tomorrow, will actually ensure the
event really is bigger than ever before.
The film lined up for Saturday’s first ever
local drive-in movie had to be changed this week after organisers
were refused permission because the 27 square meter screen was too
big.
However now, they have been able to secure an
even larger mobile cinema - almost twice the size of the one
originally planned. The new 45 square metre screen will be used to
show Grease at the drive-in, in place of I am Legend, and a dozen
other films at Cobo.
Sure’s Head of PR Steve Smith said it would
mean this year’s event is even bigger and better than ever.
“This really is fantastic news, particularly
after all the work that we have had put in with the organisers over
the past few days. It has been a bit of testing time, first trying
resolve the licence issue and then securing replacements for the
films that we were unable to show,” he said.
“However as they say every cloud has a silver
lining, and in this case it’s a big silver screen. The films that
we have got lined-up look great.”
Midsummer Magic gets underway with Saturday’s
drive-in at Salerie Corner, after which the big screen will move to
Cobo where there will be three films a day from Sunday through to
Wednesday.
Each day will feature family matinees starting
at 2.30pm and 5.00pm, followed by an action film at 7.30pm.
