“Best ever” Midsummer magic
It is estimated that nearly 6,000 people have
enjoyed the big screen entertainment at Sure’s Midsummer Magic over
the last five days.
The event began on Saturday with the island’s
first ever drive-in movie at Salerie, before moving to Cobo on
Sunday where 12 films have been screened by the beach over the past
four days.
Each afternoon from Sunday to Wednesday three
children’s films were shown, and then every evening an action
blockbuster to entertain the adults as well.
Organisers estimate that around 5,850 people in
total have watched the movies. On Wednesday afternoon alone Sure
staff handed out 800 bottles of 30ml water.
Steve Smith, head of PR for Sure said that it
has been the most successful Midsummer Magic to date.
“This has been the best year ever. The great
thing about it for me has been meeting lots of happy parents who
are pleased that their kids have got something so great to do
during the summer holidays. It’s great to feel that Sure’s
Midsummer Magic has become such a valued community event.”
“The sun has been shining throughout and we
have had really great feedback about the films. So all in all great
for us, and terrific for everyone who ventured down to the seaside
this Midsummer Magic,” he said.
