Thunderbird

If you use the Thunderbird email client, please follow these steps to make it compatible with your CWGSY email account:

1. Open up Thunderbird.

2. From the Tools menu, Select Options.

3. Click on the Advanced icon.

4. Select the General tab.

5. Click the Config Editor button. This should bring up an about:config window.

6. In the filter box, type mail.server.server. This should narrow down the results to the section we need to see. You will be looking for the section which has your CWGSY account in.

7. In ‘my list’ it is mail.server.server2 that has my CWGSY account details. If you have multiple email accounts the number may be different from 2.
For the purpose of this instruction we will stick with '2' as the number.

8. Right click within the main pane of the about:config window and from the menu, select ‘New – Boolean’.

9. This should pop-up a prompt box asking you to 'Enter the preference name'. Type in ‘mail.server.server2.auth_login’ (remember if your account is not number 2 - put the right number in here). Click OK.

10. When prompted for the Boolean value - select false. Click OK.

11. Close the about:config window. Close the Options window.

12. Click Get Mail if you know you already have mail in your inbox, or write yourself a test email. You should now be able to send and receive with a CWGSY email account using Thunderbird.

We apologise for the inconvenience of having to make these changes, but hope this allows you to use your chosen email client happily with your CWGSY account.
