MOBILE PHONES TO BE WON BY SWIMARATHON FUNDRAISERS

Swimmers who remember to bring their sponsorship forms with them to the 2008 Swimarathon this weekend may be lucky enough to win a fantastic Nokia 5310.

Sponsor Sure is giving away the latest mobile phones on each day of the event to encourage even more participants this year.

The company will run a prize draw each day of the Swimarathon weekend to find three lucky winners who will then be presented with a mobile phone.

The 32nd Swimarathon begins on Friday 3 October and finishes on Sunday 5 October.  Each day all swimmers who bring their completed sponsorship forms with them will be entered into the prize draw.

Three draws will take place on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the Swimarathon weekend to determine the three winners.

The three Nokia 5310s are together worth more than £450 and each come with a camera, MP3 player and Bluetooth capabilities.

Stan Fitzgerald, facilities director for Sure, said that the success of the event is the most important thing. 

“We are looking at ways to encourage islanders to enter this year’s Swimarathon because we want it to be as successful as possible, mainly in terms of how much money is raised, but also with regards to the number taking part in this annual community event,” he said. 

 The winners of each day’s draw will be announced after the event.

About two thirds of the lanes have been taken up but there is still space for more entries, particularly on Saturday morning.
