BROADBAND SERVICE FULLY RESTORED
Sure Internet services are now fully restored
following an intermittent technical issue this afternoon which
affected a number of users.
At about 14:30 engineers and call centre staff
were alerted to an issue stopping some residential broadband
customers from logging onto the network. Engineers identified a
faulty switch in the IP core, which was subsequently
rebooted.
Any customers still having problems logging on
should reboot their router by unplugging it, waiting a few minutes
then reconnecting. Should this be unsuccessful, please call Sure’s
24 hour contact centre, telephone: 151.
Russell Sharman, Chief Technical Officer for
Sure, commented:
“Technical problems, when they occur, are
frustrating. This particular switch had operated for 30 months
without incident before today. Our duty engineer solved the problem
very quickly and call centre staff kept customers up to date at all
times with progress on solving the fault. We do apologise to all
customers affected for any inconvenience that this has
caused.”
