Sure appoints new head of retail

Sure has appointed former Orange retail executive Hamish Kiernan to head of retail for Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man.

Mr Kiernan, 43, will be working with the commercial directors in each island to develop and improve the customer experience.

He will be using expertise gained at his previous position at Orange where he worked for seven years as Head of Retail and advised on performance management and best retail practice for the mobile giant as it developed its business in emerging markets in Africa and Eastern Europe.

He has a degree in business and economics and has throughout his career gained a great deal of experience in the retail sector. Prior to joining Orange he worked for airports operator BAA managing duty free shops throughout Britain and Europe.

Sure’s Director of Customer Operations, Mark McConnell, commented:

“Our goal is to create clear blue water between the customer experience at Sure and other stores on the high street. Hiring Hamish is a big step forward. He has vast international retail experience which is already driving up our customer service standards to new highs. As we roll-out the retail strategy he has designed I think customers will see a noticeable difference between Sure and its competitors.”

Mr Kiernan is a keen yachtsman and will be taking advantage of the island’s waters.
