A wii prize for career conscious student
Nick Gaudion walked away from this year’s
careers fair with more than a few ideas about his future job
prospects.
The 16 year old Grammar School student won a
Nintendo Wii after entering a competition at the Sure stand.
Only hours before visiting the fair Mr Gaudion
said he had been playing virtual tennis at his friend’s
house.
“It’s absolutely fantastic, I never thought I
would win,” he said. “Before the careers fair, my friend and I had
been playing on Wii Sports, and I thought that I would really like
one.”
The games console caused a storm when it was
launched because of its hi-tech motion detecting games controller
that tracks the user’s movement to control characters and objects
on the screen.
Sure’s Resources and Development Director, Jan
Nobes, said that they have a lot to offer school leavers and
graduates looking for employment opportunities.
“We are an ideal employer for someone not sure
of what they want to do because we offer a wide range of jobs
across many different areas, from engineering to retail, and
accounting to marketing,” she said.
“This is why the stand got so much attention,
but I also think that the chance to win a Nintendo Wii was a bit of
a sweetener. Congratulations to Nick,” she said.
Mr Gaudion said that the career’s fair had
given an insight into businesses in the island that are his
potential future employers.
