The 2009 guernsey telephone directory launches
The 2009 Guernsey Telephone Directory is out.
More than 45,000 copies of the book, the 103rd
edition, will be distributed over the next three weeks, with many
being collected from distribution points around the island. Within
the first five days of launch, over 20,000 will be delivered to
local businesses who utilise Sure’s free delivery scheme .
The pink national dialling section will once
again contain a ‘reverse’ look-up index for UK area codes, in
addition to the traditional alphabetical sort.
This year the directory will contain contact
details for all of the island’s deputies. Last year the timing of
the elections meant the newly elected members’ details were not
available at the time of going to print.
Sure editorial manager Laura Jeffrey said the
information in the directory was being gathered right up until
going to print, making it the most up to date telephone directory
in the Bailiwick.
‘We are always keen to keep the book as
refreshed as possible and are constantly updating our information.
It went into production only a few weeks ago therefore entries for
both business and residential are as up to date as they can
possibly be,’ she said.
The directory is 100% recyclable and Sure is
encouraging islanders to dispose of any outdated directory in the
paper recycling banks around the island.
‘We are very conscious of the environmental
aspect, which is why the directory carries the Swan Mark. This
signifies that all the materials that are used in the book and its
packaging can be recycled, and we hope that as many customers as
possible take advantage of these facilities,’ said Mrs
Jeffrey.
The collection points for the new directories
will be at Checkers, Admiral Park, Checkers Express in St Martins
and St Peter’s, Safeway Superstore, Alliance Cash & Carry, and
Cable & Wireless at Centenary House in La Vrangue. Customers
wishing to collect more than 100 directories should contact Sure on
757367.
