IT’S GOOD TO KEEP IN TOUCH
The Guernsey’s Island Games team and media will
find it easier than ever to keep in touch and stay up to date with
results in Åland.
Mobile users were already able to make and
receive calls but an agreement with Sure and Ålands Mobiltelefon
will now enable anyone on a Sure contract to use data (emails,
social networking sites etc) whilst they are in Åland.
GIGA are full of praise of the efforts of Steve
Yates, one of Guernsey’s Island Games’ Archers and a Sure employee,
for championing the plan to link with the Åland
telecoms provider in order to ensure that the new roaming GPRS
agreement is in place before the Island Games starts next
week.
It means that Guernsey’s sports competitors and
their team managers with Blackberrys or internet-enabled phones
will be able to keep up to date with the latest results on the
official Natwest Island Games website wherever they are and
whenever they wish to. It also means that they will be able to keep
colleagues, friends and family back home up to date with what’s
going on via regular emails and social networking updates.
