SURE RESPONDS TO COMMENTS FROM ARCHBISHOP OF WINCHESTER
Steve Smith, Sure’s Head of PR said:
“The comments made by the Archbishop of
Westminster are his personal opinion and we respect his right to
comment on issues which he feels have an impact on today's
society.
While we accept that social networking websites
and texting don't involve face to face interaction, they do provide
an additional opportunity for people to communicate and we feel
that should be welcomed. The development of these technologies
actually encourages communication as people are now able to
instantly share news and thoughts with their family and
friends.
Sure would always advise parents and guardians
to carefully monitor their youngsters' use of social networking
sites and mobiles in the same way that they would monitor their
access to television, movies and computer games to ensure that the
youngsters' best interests are maintained.
If anyone is concerned about the use of mobiles
and social networking sites then safety information can be
found
here and we would be
happy to provide further details if anyone wants to contact
us.”
