PRESIDENTS TEST THE WATER FOR THE SURE SWIMARATHON
With less than three weeks to go, the two
Presidents of Lion’s and Round Table have made a formal visit to
Beau Sejour to test the water!
“Just right” they stated as preparations
continue apace.
“Be sure to get your Entry Form in as soon as
possible” said Round Table President Peter Webber, “Or you won’t be
able to choose your preferred swim-time” added Lion’s Club
President Tim Falla.
This, the 33rd annual event, is organised by
the Lion’s Club of Guernsey and Guernsey Round Table. It takes
place from 9th to 11th October 2009 and has to date raised over £1
million for local causes.
The Sure Swimarathon starts with the
Swimarathon At Large between 9am and noon at Baubigny Schools with
local schools taking all of the available times. The Sure
Swimarathon then moves to Beau Sejour and between 2pm on Friday 9th
until 7pm on Sunday 11th October, 215 teams from across the island
including schools, families, youth organisations and companies will
take to the water. About a third of the 50-minute long slots have
been taken and organisers are reminding people to confirm their
entries as quickly as possible.
“There are still a few spaces on all three days
and it would be great to see all 215 slots filled,” said chairman
of the organising committee Jeff Kitts.
Great Gifts and prizes for swimmers
Sure, as sponsor of the event, will sponsor
every swimmer with £1! Sure will also be providing all entrants
with a Swimarathon T-shirt and each day swimmers with sponsorship
forms, will be entered into a prize draw for a New Mobile
Phone.
“The Sure Swimarathon is a fantastic community
event and we’re delighted to be involved. We’re looking forward to
bringing together people of all ages to try and raise a record
breaking amount of money,” said Sure’s chief executive Eddie
Saints.
Entry forms for this year’s Sure Swimarathon
are available from Beau Sejour, Sure’s shop in the High Street and
Cable & Wireless offices in Upland Road and at Centenary House.
