If you want to use your Blackberry abroad, access the internet
via your phone or data card or send picture messages to friends
back home, you will need to be on a
Pay
Monthly price plan, and check that we have a data roaming
agreement with at least one network in the country you are
visiting.
Data roaming is billed by the amount of data that you send or
receive as opposed to the time that you are online. For example,
you can to stay connected throughout your working day but only be
charged for the volume of data sent and received by your device.
Data is charged in Kilo Bytes (KB) with 1024 KB equal to 1 Mega
Byte (MB).
1 MB is approximately equal to:
- 200 text only emails
- 25 web pages
- 25 one page CVs
- 10 large word documents
1 MB of data when roaming costs £6. The
charging criteria used by networks vary and can be as
follows:
- Volume Charging per KB
- Minimum Charge per connection with Volume Charging
thereafter
One of the major benefits of using a BlackBerry is that
it uses very little data. This makes it considerably cheaper than
other similar mobile email services when it comes to roaming. The
average BlackBerry user will spend 30-50p per day accessing their
email and documents while outside the island. For information of
data charges for a specific location, please get in touch on
700700.
On the following pages is a list of countries and
