Sure tree of
Joy
Every Christmas, the Rotary Club of Guernsey
organizes the Tree of Joy – a wonderful cause which provides the
focus for Islanders to donate presents to those less
fortunate.
Christmas 2005 saw a move to a different type
of "tree". In place of a
traditional tree a series of illuminated cables,
covering the weighbridge roundabout's replica sea mast have
been installed to form the shape of a tree. The tree like effect
really comes into its own at night time.
Cable & Wireless has teamed up with
Deutsche Bank and Longport to support the Rotary Club's Tree
of Joy. Now a major attraction every Christmas it stands as a
symbol of the Island’s generous giving.
We’ll be helping to raise money for Rotary
charities in the lead up to Christmas. And you can help too. We’ve
organized a special scheme so that every mobile handed in for
recycling at our Shops will raise money for Rotary.
