Alderney ISC information
Sure delivers a hosting Service which enables
you to host your local network infrastructure in a Sure data
centre. Our data centres provide secure facilities for hosting your
equipment and direct connection between that equipment and the
internet. Each data centre is also fully supported so that you can
report faults and make service requests at any time of the day or
night.
All our data centres provide the reliable,
high-performance infrastructure with full redundancy that is
required to ensure that your equipment remains online 24 hours a
day, seven days a week. The equipment features and operational
processes offered by our Alderney data centre provide a clean,
secure and controlled environment, including:
- Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC systems)
- Fire detection and fire suppression systems
- UPS
- Intruder alarm
- Around-the-clock surveillance
- Physical access controlled by Cable & Wireless Guernsey
- Experienced and highly trained facilities staff
- Office/workshop facilities
Service details
Sure's hosting facility provided in the
Alderney ISC offers single cabinets measuring:
- Height: 42U
- External length: 900 mm
- External width: 600 mm
- Internal size: 19" wide
Each cabinet provided is fully enclosed by
sidewalls, with locking doors both front and back, and allows
cabling from above. All power, air conditioning, smoke detection,
fire suppression and security systems are monitored 24 hours a day,
seven days a week, with staff on duty to ensure that all systems
are operating correctly.
As an additional service we can also provide
on-site support of your equipment by performing remote or hands-on
maintenance and support tasks, such as hard and soft reboots and
console access.
The data centre is connected to the Cable &
Wireless global IP backbone – a single high-capacity IP network
delivering integrated communications and consistent quality of
service worldwide – by IP feeds ordered from Sure and delivered
over private circuits.
Connectivity between your hosted equipment and
the internet is not provided as part of the Sure service and must
be ordered separately. Cross-connects (copper or optical) can also
be ordered to interconnect equipment housed in different cabinets
or at different locations.
Sure installs your infrastructure equipment and
power. You yourself can install, wire, configure, manage and
maintain the cabinet(s), network and server equipment.
Alternatively, an additional Sure's service is available offering
installation and wiring of your equipment.
Power
The electrical power circuits at the Alderney
ISC are supplied by Alderney Electricity Ltd. This is supported by
a redundant UPS of 2 x Chloride EDP 90/800, 80 kVA units (N + 1
redundancy, each unit providing half an hour of cover at full data
centre capacity) and a 165 kVA diesel generator. The generator can
run for 48 hours using on-site fuel, with further deliveries
available from a site within one mile.
Cabling
Each cabinet is supplied with a single CAT 5
patch panel with ten ports. Additional patch panels are available.
(CAT 5 can support data rates of up to 1000Mb.)
Environment
The Alderney ISC has a fully redundant venting
and air conditioning system (N + 1 redundancy) and VESDA smoke
detection systems are fitted throughout. Fire suppression within
the Alderney ISC is a provided by an HFC 227ea FM200 system
(halon-free), which simply reduces the oxygen level in the
environment and quenches the fire.
Security
Video camera surveillance systems enable each
part of the floor area and entrance to be monitored 24 hours a day,
seven days a week. Physical access into the data centre is
controlled by electronic cards with PINs, which are held by a
strictly limited number of Sure's personnel only.
You can access the data centre and your cabinet
whenever you want, as long the relevant security procedures have
been followed and you are escorted by a Sure representative at all
times.
Monitoring and reporting
Sure systems and staff monitor all equipment
used to provide a stable and secure data centre environment 24
hours a day, seven days a week.
