About us

Having served in many countries for over a century, Cable & Wireless retains all the resources required to deliver world-class service. Operations at Cable & Wireless are conducted on a truly global scale with our network infrastructure extending across the world, from the UK and continental Europe to North America and the Asia Pacific. We also have access to leading edge skills in the areas of security, hosting, IP technology and international voice and data services.
Foremost however, is our commitment to our customers in the locations around the world where we provide a full range of telecommunications services to meet their needs.

As part of the Group’s International division, Cable & Wireless in Guernsey is one of 32 operations around the world where we are focused on the opportunities available to businesses in an offshore economy.

Part of the British Isles, but not politically part of the UK or the European Union, Guernsey is the second largest of the Channel Islands.  Just 20 miles off the coast of France, it forms part of a Bailiwick, which includes the smaller island of Alderney. The islands are home to 60,000 people and an economy which includes a world-renowned finance centre, Europe's largest captive insurance sector, strong banking, investment fund and trusts sectors and a rapidly growing e-business sector.

Our investments in world-class telecommunications support the continued development of the local financial services industry and ensure the islands are the location of choice for major e-business companies.

The independence of the Bailiwick is reflected in the islands’ economy and it’s regulatory structures. Guernsey and Alderney have established their own advantageous tax frameworks and Alderney also operates its own regulatory framework to support licensed e-gaming. Telecommunications is independently regulated outside of the UK and Europe.

We work closely with the local government to promote and deliver the advantages of locating offshore as well as working with the Alderney Gambling Control Commission for companies investigating e-business opportunities.
