Sure, the exciting and innovative new brand from Cable & Wireless, will be the official telecommunication sponsor for the TT for the next three years, reinforcing the company’s stated commitment to the Manx community.

Paul Phillips, Motorsport Manager for the Isle of Man TT races, commented: We are delighted to have such a prestigious company associated with the TT and it is a reflection of the event’s growing stature that we are able to attract such strong brands and companies to support the races.

Simon Last-Sutton, Commercial Director of Cable & Wireless commented: ‘The TT is always a prestigious event on the Island, but to become the Official Telecom sponsor in its 100th Year is a great honour.’

The TT is certain to be extra special this year with over 50,000 fans crossing the water to watch racing history unfold at 130mph. Later in the year Sure is looking forward to making its own historic milestone when it launches its new mobile network in July.

To help get the Sure team on track with the whole TT experience, local rider John Barton offered to take Sure Marketing Executive Julie Heselton out on the course. Julie said: ‘I have a lot of respect for all the riders that enter the TT as the speeds they reach on these machines are just incredible!’ For Manx girl Julie this was the first time on the back of a Motorbike, unlike John who will be making his 18th appearance at the TT this year.

John Barton grew up with bikes in his blood watching his Dad racing in the Manx Grand Prix. Talking about the TT this year he said: ‘I can hardly wait as all the top riders and all the best equipment are coming over for it. I think we will see a lot of records broken.’ In preparation for the TT John will be heading over to Ireland two weeks before to enter the Northwest 200, however his sights are firmly set on a Top 10 finish at the TT.

Julie added: ‘The Centenary TT will create a real buzz on the Island and the Sure team is looking forward to being in the midst of the action as a main sponsor. We intend to carry forward some of this TT excitement through to our summer launch’.
