“Mobile on the Isle of Man will never be the
same again” said Simon Last-Sutton, Commercial Director for Cable
& Wireless in the Isle of Man, the company bringing Sure Mobile
to the Island. “Yesterday we formally opened the Sure Mobile doors
which sees the culmination of 14 months of tireless team work, a
£10 million investment in the highest quality Nokia network and the
delivery of many firsts to the Isle of Man – namely choice and real
value for money.”
To really kick off the launch, Sure Mobile gave
away a luxury holiday to the Maldives, 4 VIP tickets to see James
Morrison in concert and twenty BlackBerry Pearls, all before 9.00am
on Tuesday.
Babs Cowley won the luxury holiday and couldn’t
believe her luck; “I never thought it would be me. I will
definitely sign up to Sure Mobile now and will use it with
pride”!
The state-of-the-art Sure Mobile store in
Strand Street opened to the public at 9.00am, the five retail
partners around the Island started offering the Sure Mobile price
plans – and in addition to this nearly 100 outlets started selling
the Sure Mobile Top Up service for Pay As You Go customers.
The attractive launch offers also started
yesterday and are available until 1st August. Customers
who join Sure Mobile on a Pay Monthly agreement will receive 50%
off the first 3 months line rental. There will also be a first
come, first served deal for the most wanted numbers and customers
will be given 200 free texts to inform people of their new
number.
Pay As You Go customers will also be in line
for a good deal. As part of the launch offers, they can receive up
to £100 off a handset suitable for their needs and by registering
online for the first time and topping up with £20 they will receive
500 free texts. They will also receive extra free minutes and texts
when they top up with £10 or more.
As part of the launch week celebrations, Sure
Mobile has teamed up with Nokia to co-sponsor this year's Viking
Festival and on Tuesday the Vikings paid a visit to Strand Street
to perform a battle re-enactment outside the Sure Mobile
store.
John Shakespeare, the organiser of the Viking
Festival said; “We’re really pleased to celebrate our Viking week
with National week which also ties in with the launch of Sure
Mobile. We were down in Strand Street yesterday entertaining the
public. Sure Mobile has put on a great show with face painters and
street performers and we’re very pleased to be part of that and
we’re very grateful for Sure Mobile for their sponsorship and
support”.
The Vikings will also be performing around the
Island throughout the week and Sure Mobile will be part of the
Viking festivities at the Tynwald day fair on Thursday and at the
Viking Village on Saturday, 7th July, where the festival
will end with a dramatic firework display.
In addition to the Viking Festival, Sure Mobile
will be holding some very exciting events in store. Today is a
dedicated BlackBerry day, where experts from BlackBerry will be on
hand to advise customers and free BlackBerry Pearls are available
to those who join on an 18 month agreement. On Friday, 6th July,
free goodies will be handed out in store and on Saturday, 7th July
there will be an outside broadcast where the winners of Nokia
phones will be announced and one lucky person will win a holiday to
Monaco.
On launch day the store was full of people
eager to find out more about what Sure Mobile has to offer and be
amongst the first to join and select their preferred number.
James Hewitt, the retail manager said “It was
absolutely brilliant in the store yesterday - everything went
really well and the staff have done a great job in coping with a
huge demand for Sure Mobile”.
Simon Last-Sutton agreed; “We have a great
local team here who has all had extensive training and we are
really looking forward to giving our customers the best service
both before and after they purchase from us. We want to thank the
Government and regulators for awarding us the license to operate
here in the Isle of Man in 2006, and as can be seen from our launch
and the events we are involved in, we are thoroughly committed to
the Island. Now that Sure Mobile has launched customers will be
able to see that our service was worth waiting for.”
