Swift Communications takes stand for road safety
Swift Communications, a partner of Sure Mobile,
the new mobile phone service from Cable & Wireless, will be
seeking to encourage safe driving at this year’s Conister Motor
Show.
One of the Department of Transport’s major
initiatives this year has been to raise awareness of road safety in
a poster and billboard campaign - to coincide with the Centenary TT
in June and the Manx Grand Prix – encouraging people to think
carefully about their own safety and that of others.
As part of the campaign islanders and visitors
have been reminded to slow down, buckle up and not speak on their
mobile phone while driving (the penalty for which is three points
on your license and up to £1,000 fine).
At the Conister Motor Show on 8th and 9th
September, Swift Communications will be selling Bluetooth headsets
and full car kits, which enable drivers to talk on their phone
while keeping two hands on the wheel.
Steve Hands, Director of Swift Communications
said:
“On the last bank holiday Monday alone UK
police caught 199 people nationwide using their mobile phone whilst
driving. It is a dangerous practice which causes accidents hurting
motorists and pedestrians. By using a hands free system in the car,
drivers can still make calls and drive at the same time, but in a
much safer way and without breaking the law. We fully install car
kits which make it much easier for the customer and they can even
be transferred from one vehicle to another.”
At the show Swift Communications will also be
selling satellite navigation systems which work in the Isle of Man,
UK and mainland Europe, and Sure mobile Pay as you go SIM packs and
Pay monthly contracts.
