Friends of the Earth Launch Green Audit Service at Sure Mobile

The Isle of Man Friends of the Earth group has launched their new green-audit service at Sure Mobile.
Friends of the Earth believes that it is essential to work with island businesses, to help them improve energy efficiency in the office, and to help reward best practice.
The green audit will aim to identify areas where companies already excel, and where improvement is needed. Friends of the Earth will supply a written report with recommendations, and then encourage businesses to put in place a plan to improve their environmental performance over an agreed period of time to help work towards eco-excellence.
Sure Mobile, a company already committed to the environment, has been selected to be the first island business to benefit from the audit process.
Phil Corlett from Isle of Man Friends of the Earth said, "It's important that the island moves towards a sustainable future. To help this process it's essential that we engage with the business community on the Isle of Man as well as discussing ways that individuals can reduce their impact on the environment. Sure Mobile wants to identify ways they can demonstrate an environmental commitment in their business, and we're very pleased to work with them on this. They're also keen to share what they learn with their offices in Jersey and Guernsey, which is fantastic news."
Julie Heselton, Marketing Manager, for Sure Mobile said, "Every business needs to consider its carbon footprint. I'm very pleased that Isle of Man Friends of the Earth has selected Sure Mobile to launch their green audit scheme. We recognise that there may be more we can do to be an environmentally friendly business. Any revelations in the Isle of Man can then be presented back into our other business units."
Sure, the trading name for Cable & Wireless in the Channel Islands & Isle of Man, has a dedicated environmental committee made up of representatives from across the company. Initiatives already in place include recycling schemes for mobile handsets, online billing to reduce waste paper and a Think Before You Fly in February initiative for staff.
