SURE MAKES CHARITY PRESENTATION TO JOEY DUNLOP FOUNDATION
Trustees of the Joey Dunlop Foundation have been presented with a cheque by Sure, ahead of the start of TT 2008.
A donation has been made to the charity in return for use of an iconic image of the 26-time TT champion on Sure’s limited-edition commemorative SIM packs, which have been produced especially for the event.
The presentation took place during the opening of Sure’s retail unit at the Grandstand in Douglas on Saturday 24th May. The company’s Marketing Manager, Julie Heselton, handed the donation over to Joey Dunlop Foundation Chair, Kevin Quirk, and long-time supporter of the charity, John McGuinness.
John’s team manager, Clive Padgett, supplied a Honda CBR600RR motorcycle to the charity, which is a replica of the Padgetts Manx Gas Supersport 600 bike he will be racing in the Isle of Man in 2008. Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the course of the year, and John’s bike will be given away in January.
The Joey Dunlop Foundation aims to build a holiday home for disabled people on Victoria Road in Douglas. The charity has already purchased the plot of land, and is now working to raise enough money to cover the rising building costs. More information can be found by logging onto

Kevin Quirk, Chair of the Joey Dunlop Foundation, is really grateful for Sure’s support in this way. He said: “Despite many setbacks, the JDF Committee members are determined to achieve their objective and provide specialist holiday accomodation for anyone with special needs.
“Considerable progress has been achieved in the last 12 months, but we are only a small committee and we need the support of companies like Sure, as well as road-racing fans to support the Joey Dunlop Foundation. This will ensure that a lasting memorial is constructed in memory of Joey.”
Miss Heselton added that she’s delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile charity. She said: “Being able to associate our brand with such a TT legend is a real honour. The Joey Dunlop Foundation is a fantastic initiative that will play a really valuable role in the community once the building on Victoria Road in Douglas is complete.
“Joey Dunlop is perhaps the most iconic racer ever to take on the Isle of Man’s Mountain Circuit, and it’s fitting that his legacy should live on here in this way.”
The SIM packs cost £20, which includes £20 of credit and 100MB of free data usage on Sure’s high speed mobile internet portal, Sure Live! They are available from the Sure store on Strand Street in Douglas, the Sure retail unit at the Grandstand, and from either
