Sure delighted by licence amendment
More choice for consumers, and better
value for money’ – two promises to the Isle of Man’s landline
customers from Simon Last-Sutton, Commercial Director of Cable and
Wireless in the island, after today’s decision to grant the company
an amended licence. It means that the
company will now be able to provide an extended range of services
across fixed and mobile telecommunications. The decision comes just a year after Cable and Wireless
launched in the Isle of Man under the trading name ‘Sure Mobile’.
In this time, the company has driven down the price for mobile
consumers by 33%.Mr. Last-Sutton is
delighted with today’s decision. He said: “Granting us an amended
licence means better value and choice for the Isle of Man’s
landline and business customers who, up until now, haven’t been
able to shop around.“Consumers will be
able to choose who they want to provide their landline and business
line services, and see which is the best value for them.“We’ve demonstrated with our mobile phone
licence in the last year that competition can only be a good thing
for the island, and consumers should be really excited about what
we’ve got planned for them in the coming months.“Of course, value doesn’t just mean cost –
it’s also a measure of customer experience, and overall we provide
excellent value for money with things like a dedicated 24 hour
helpline, and staff who are fully-trained to deliver a first-class
product and service.“It’s a very
exciting time for Sure in the Isle of Man, and it should be every
bit as exciting for Manx residents – you’ve got a lot to look
forward to!”In a statement, Chairman
of the Communications Commission, Hon Martyn Quayle, MHK,
said:“The Communications Commission
welcomes the introduction of further competition in the
telecommunications sector and the increased consumer choice which
should be beneficial to the island and its people.”
