iPHONE COMING TO THE ISLE OF MAN FIRST ON SURE
Sure Mobile has confirmed that the long-awaited
Apple iPhone will be available in the Isle of Man from Monday 13th
October 2008.
Pat Cunningham, Sure’s Head of Mobile, commented:
“Apple has kept a very tight rein on the sales channels in all of
its various markets meaning that the only products available were
locked to specific networks within the Europe region. In the next
couple of weeks we will be selling a limited number of i-Phones in
our store in the Isle of Man. This is ideal timing as a gift for
Christmas!
“We are determined to continue to focus on our customers, ensuring
that we deliver what they want most; great value, great products
and great quality of service at all times. The i-Phone is just one
of many such products that we will be launching in the run up to
Christmas.”
The company has secured a supply of the latest version of the
iPhone, which will come with an Apple warranty. The iPhone will of
course work on Sure’s mobile data network.
Sure expects there to be a high demand for the handset, which
combines a mobile phone with a music and widescreen video player,
internet browser and email. Sales in the UK topped more than
100 000 in the first fortnight after its launch in July, and last
month there were still more than 25 000 selling a week.
The company is offering the phone with a data booster. However, Mr
Cunningham suggested that those who cannot afford the iPhone have a
range of other smartphones to choose from.
“There is a lot of hype around the iPhone, and much of that is
deserved. However, there are a number of great smartphones which
compete with it, not least the new Nokia N96, the Samsung I900 and
the BlackBerry Bold. I’d always advise Isle of Man customers to
come into our shop and ask for advice so that we can ensure they
get the perfect handset to meet their needs.”
The Apple iPhone will be in stock at the Sure store on Strand
Street in Douglas from Monday 13th October 2008.
