Sure gears up for Jersey’s fastest mobile broadband
4th June 2010
Sure is upgrading its 3G mobile network in
Jersey to download speeds of up to 7.2 Megabits per second (Mbps)
from its current 3.6Mbps and is on the verge of launching the
island’s fastest network with speeds of 10.2Mbps expected in the
next couple of months and testing for speeds of 14.4Mbps already
underway.
Paul Taylor, Marketing Director for Sure,
said:
“We’ve seen a really strong uptake in
High Speed Mobile Broadband since launching our
3G network in Jersey.
High Speed Mobile
Broadband offers islanders super-fast mobile internet access,
which is really useful for those wanting to download large files
quickly on their 3G phone, netbook or laptop. We’ve doubled speeds
without charging more, are the only network to offer unlimited
usage and have ensured that islanders will get a reliable service
island-wide through Sure’s mobile network.”
High Speed Mobile Broadband (HSMB) makes the
internet available to islanders wherever they can get a mobile
signal. It is increasingly popular with people who want to work
remotely, want to use their laptop everywhere, or who use a lot of
data on their handsets and want faster download speeds. They use it
to stay in touch through Facebook, Twitter and other social
networking sites as well as generally browsing the net.
