Sure Skate returns for more
Following the event’s success last Christmas,
telecom company Sure has confirmed that Sure Skate will return to
the island in December.
The ice skating rink is organised by Placemoor
Ltd in partnership with sponsors Sure and Nokia Siemens
Networks.
8,500 people took the opportunity to hone their
ice skating skills last Christmas. Sure is hoping that even more
will do so in 2010, as the ice rink will stay open for 2 weeks
longer and possibly be put into a new location, making it easier
for people to access and enjoy.
Graham Hughes, Chief Executive of Sure in
Jersey, said: “Sure Skate has really put ice skating on the map and
become a part of Christmas in Jersey. Because last year proved so
popular and we received such great feedback from the community,
we’re extending the time that the ice rink will be over here.
People will now be able to skate from early December right the way
through to the schools returning in January.
“We’re hoping to site the rink near the town
centre and are currently working to find a suitable site. If we’re
able to bring the rink down to the town from Fort Regent, then it
could bring a whole new look to people’s lunch hours!”
