Jersey’s new regulator welcomed by Sure

Following the appointment of John Curran as Executive Director of the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority (JCRA) whilst maintaining his position as Director General of the Office of Utility Regulation (OUR) in Guernsey, Graham Hughes, Chief Executive of Sure in Jersey, said:

“We are pleased to learn of John Curran’s appointment. He has been an effective regulator in Guernsey as well as being a strong leader of the OUR itself. We see it as a potentially positive move by the board of the JCRA and hope it does lead to increasingly similar and effective regulation across the Channel Islands.

“During the period before John’s tenure begins we expect the JCRA to continue its work as set out in its Strategic Plan for 2010 on a number of urgent issues affecting the telecoms market in Jersey, including the implementation of the Regulaid report’s findings.”
