Sure customers set to get latest news from Guiton
1st September 2006
Sure has teamed up with the Jersey Evening Post
to offer local news and information over their new mobile phone
network.
Customers will be able to access JEP content
via WAP – short for Wireless Application Protocol. WAP is a secure
specification that allows users to access information instantly via
handheld wireless devices such as mobile phones.
This development follows a deal between Cable
& Wireless and the Guiton Group, owners of the Jersey Evening
Post and Guernsey Press newspapers and their associated websites,
thisisjersey.com and thisisguernsey.com. News and information will
be made available to Cable & Wireless Jersey, which will pass
it on to its customers.
David Smith, Chief Executive, Cable &
Wireless Jersey, commented:
“I am delighted that we have formed this
partnership with the Guiton Group. We intend to use this to provide
customers with new and exciting content for our mobile
customers.”
Chris Bright, Editor, Jersey Evening Post,
added:
“As Jersey’s longest established provider of
news and information, we are delighted to embark on this
partnership, made possible by new technology. It is an important
step in the development of our multi-media publishing activities
and means that the JEP’s content will be available in the paper
itself, on the internet and now on mobile platforms.”
