Cable & Wireless appoints new Commercial Director.

Mark NixonCable & Wireless has appointed a highly experienced Commercial Director to lead its Jersey operation.
Mark Nixon, 41, was educated in Warrington before joining the army’s Royal Signal Corps as a data systems engineer. During that period he completed a BSc in Engineering and Computer Science through the Open University.
He left the army in 1987 and subsequently worked for a number of major tech brands including IBM UK, as a consulting engineer, Bull Information Systems, as Sales Manager for UK & Ireland, and 3Com corporation, latterly as Channel Development Manager for Europe and the Middle East. At 3Com he was heavily involved in the design and deployment of high value business solutions that led to long term incremental revenue growth for the company. 
In 1997 he became UK Sales Director and Director of Strategic Partner Sales for Europe and the Middle East for UUNET/World Com, the world’s largest IP provider where he was instrumental in delivering high value solutions to WorldCom customers and their businesses. He left that post in 2002 and joined ICB, which he transformed from a provider of telecom services to UK small and medium sized enterprises into a leading mobile solutions provider.
From 2003-2006 Mr Nixon worked for O2 as Head of Strategic Partners, which involved the consolidation of six separate business units into one division. He left O2 following its takeover by Telefonica and became Vice President Business Partners & Indirect Channels for Visto, a global wireless software vendor, and worked as a consultant to other telecoms companies.
Mr Nixon has completed a one year Leadership and Management training course at the Royal Military College Sandhurst. He has also completed the Executive Edge Leadership Development Course (a one year MBA) at Henley Management College and the O2 Executive Development Programme through Templeton College, Oxford University.
Mr Nixon said: “My role will be to lead a great team to build upon the 15,000 customers who have chosen Sure mobile since its launch in September 2006. To do that I want to be a customer champion, constantly striving to improve our service levels, enhance our network coverage and build upon the £10 million investment already made by our business over the last two years. My family are really looking forward to settling in Jersey.”
