Free films in the park
Ghostbusters and Annie, two much loved family
films, will lead the line-up at this year’s Sure Picture Show in
partnership with the Jersey Film Festival.
The Jersey Film Festival has a week of stunning
free outdoor cinema in Howard Davis Park every year since 1994. For
the first time this year organiser, Deputy Kevin Lewis is being
supported by telecoms operator, Sure.
Over 230 islanders emailed and texted
suggestions for films, with 130 different ideas! From that list
Deputy Lewis has compiled a great line-up for the week:
16-9-08 Ice Age
17-8-08 Star Gate
18-8-08 Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium I
19-8-08 Ghost Busters
20-8-08 Bridge to Terrabithia
21-8-08 Italian Job (2003)
22-8-08 Annie
Deputy Lewis commented:
“Every year I have people stopping me in the
street asking whether I’ll do the film festival again and telling
me how much they enjoy it. This is a real labour of love for me,
but the positive comments make it worth it.”
Graham Hughes, Commercial Director for Sure,
added:
“This is a fantastic line-up spanning great
sing-along movies and real feelgood factor. People of all ages
should be able to find something to enjoy. We’ll be supplying
goodies like pop corn and blow up chairs for a nominal charge which
will all raise money for Jersey Hospice.”
The Sure Picture Show will take place from 16th
– 22nd August 2008. There will be a free film to see every night at
8:30pm.
