SURE PICTURE SHOW RAISES OVER £1,600
FOR JERSEY HOSPICE CARE
Jersey Hospice Care will be benefiting from a
donation of over £1,600 this year thanks to the Sure Picture
Show.
The Sure Picture Show in partnership with the
Jersey Film Festival raised £1684.76 for Jersey Hospice Care
through donations and sales of merchandise including t shirts, pop
corn and inflatable chairs.
An estimated 1900 people turned out to watch
the films in Howard Davis Park which were shown free of charge
between the 16th and 22nd August.
The line up of family films and sing-a-long
classics was clearly a hit with public, whose enthusiasm and
generosity wasn’t even dampened by the inclement weather.
Sure ponchos and blow up chairs ensured that hardy film goers could
still enjoy the shows even when it rained.
Deputy Kevin Lewis, who owns the Forum
community cinema, has organised the event since it started back in
1994.
Deputy Lewis said, “The response from the
public has been fantastic this year, and I was very pleased to be
able to choose an excellent line-up of films guided by the
islanders themselves. They have shown great dedication to the
cause, and the money raised is a direct reflection of this.”
Steve Smith, Head of PR for Sure said, “Jersey
Hospice Care is our charity of the year and we are proud to sponsor
this event in partnership with the Jersey Film Festival in order to
help raise funds for such a great local institution. The turnout,
despite the British summer, shows how well received the event is
with the public, and we would like to thank everyone for their
generous donations and purchases throughout the week.”
