SURE SECURES RETURN OF HEAVENLY ANGELS

St Helier’s Christmas Angels are brushing off their wings ready for another busy festive period, thanks to Sure.
Following the stellar success of the project in the last two years, Jersey residents will soon see the next group of Angels descending on St Helier to help out Christmas shoppers.
The return of the Angels has been made possible this year by a sponsorship deal between the Parish and Sure.
Sure’s Angels will be flying into town this Thursday 27th November and will be helping Christmas shoppers in St Helier on Thursday late night shopping nights, Saturdays and Sundays in the lead up to Christmas.
The Angels are employed to offer practical help carrying bags to transport hubs, providing shopping information and directions to seasonal visitors and helping keep shoppers warm and dry. It is a free service, with any tips being donated to Sure’s local charity of the year, Jersey Hospice Care.
Graham Hughes, Commercial Director for Sure is looking forward to seeing the Angels back in action as Christmas approaches.
“Sure is delighted to be able to support this scheme and to ensure that Christmas shoppers can benefit from their presence once again. The Angels will be easy to spot with their high-visibility jackets and umbrellas. They will also be armed with canvas carrier bags and waterproof ponchos for anyone struggling to carry their purchases back to their cars in the rain, and will even have heat packs on hand to warm up icy fingers,” he said.
Sure’s sponsorship is a real help to the Parish who have done a fantastic job of handling the project. The sponsorship will cover the cost of the Angels’ employment and, with safety in mind, Sure have supplied pre-programmed SIM cards for all Angels allowing them free calls to each other, free calls to the Parish Hall, free calls to the Sure retail store, and £5 worth of emergency credit.
St Helier Town Constable Simon Crowcroft, who launched the scheme two years ago, is over the moon to see them return.
“It’s fantastic,” he said. “The Angels were so very well received by the public for the last two years that we were determined to ensure they could return for a third.  The Angels found that the public responded cautiously to their gestures of goodwill at first, but that once the word had spread, their help was warmly welcomed by most. I am delighted with Sure’s support which has given the project a real boost.”
The idea has provided inspiration for similar projects in both Guernsey and the Isle of Man this Christmas, also sponsored by Sure.
